Lloyd served in the United States Marine Corps as a radar maintenance technician working on the AN-TPS 59 system. While serving he attended Southern Illinois University on the weekends and earned a BS in electronic systems technologies with an emphasis on management. He is now working towards a second bachelor's degree, this time in electrical engineering. He also is the founder and current president of the Secular Student Alliance of Boise State.
